Our Story

How it all started...

Originally called Pentecostal Assembly, Living Faith Church began as a small group of believers in 1940. They met in a storefront until 1945, when the group built a church building at 912 E. Cota St. in downtown Santa Barbara.
In 1962, they sold the church building and bought the property at 4597 Hollister Ave and the name of the church was changed to First Assembly of God of Santa Barbara. The building was completed in 1963 and a 2-story educational wing was added in 1969. In 1974, the 900 seat Worship Building was added and the name was changed to Living Faith Center.

Expanding the vision...

In 2009, Pastor Mike Moccardini, was selected by the congregation as Lead Pastor. Previously, Pastor Mike had been serving as our Youth Pastor. The church name was updated to Living Faith Church, and a new Mission and branding campaign took place. Pastor Jason joined the staff as Family Pastor in 2017 and Joel Valiente joined as Worship Leader in 2019.

Where we are headed...

This year, our theme is GO2020. Pastor Mike has spent the past couple of years walking us through the KNOW, GROW and GO aspects of our mission statement. This year, our focus is on GOing. Going to our neighborhoods, our community, and the world.
